Are you aged between 16 and 25 years? Did you sustain an acquired brain injury at any time before you were 16? If so we have an online questionnaire that we would be grateful if you would take a few minutes to complete, no personal or contact details are collected. More than just a moment in time …Exploring the long-term consequences of childhood acquired brain injury

Monday November 8th 2010
East Midlands Conference Centre
Nottingham

Trust-Ed’s next one day conference will explore the often unrecognised, long term consequences of an acquired brain injury sustained during childhood or adolescence.

The conference will be chaired by Dr Ron Savage from the US, internationally known for his work with young people with ABI. An excellent programme of highly acclaimed international speakers will include Dr Michael Collins, Sports concussion clinician and researcher, Pittsburgh Medical Center;  Professor Huw Williams, Co-Director of the Centre for Clinical Neuropsychology Research, Exeter University; and Dr Rob Forsyth, Senior Lecturer and Consultant Paediatric Neurologist, Royal Victoria Infirmary and Newcastle University. Topics will include: the effects of mild traumatic brain injuries and sports’ concussions; childhood ABI and future offending behaviour; and the usual and unusual presentations of post-traumatic epilepsy. There will also be contributions by young people with ABI and their family members. Breakout sessions are planned relating, for instance, to learning needs and educational provision and to ABI risk in sport.

This conference will be of interest to: teachers and teaching assistants; educational and clinical psychologists; speech and language, occupational and physio-therapists; brain injury case managers; medical professionals, particularly those involved in rehabilitative or community work; solicitors and barristers; social workers; people with ABI and their family members.
